Is RTMPS (RTMP over SSL) required when using Workplace live video?

Workplace recommends using RTMPS (RTMP over SSL) to protect the confidentiality of your video broadcast. The control panel will generate an RTMPS URL by default. If your encoder doesn't support RTMPS, you can uncheck the box Secure Connection (SSL). This will cause the broadcast URL to be RTMP.
